Music

Awarded to those who show a satisfactory progress in a musical activity listed below over a period of at least six to eight weeks.

Such activity may be carried out individually, in small groups, or in a band. Where this is not a regular activity (e.g. the Company band) the instruction must be arranged by the Company.

Brass Pipe
Bugle Singing
Drum Choral
Instrumental

Detailed requirements for each of the Credits are not laid down, as these will vary according to the ability and progress of individual boys, but the important criterion is the effort shown and the progress made.

Suggestions for progressive requirements for many of the instruments are available in support literature.

Instruction in bugle or brass band playing should be based on the BB Bugle Band Handbook, or the BB Brass Band Handbook.

Drum Majors may be awarded music Credits on attaining progressive standards of proficiency in Mace Drill (as outlined in the Bugle Band or Brass Band Handbooks) and an appropriate knowledge of the music being played by the band in addition to the overall time requirements.
