Awarded to Boys who have attended regularly a course of instruction in,
and show that they have a knowledge of: |

Home Safety |
|
Falls; Burns and Scalds; Poisoning; Suffocation; Electrical Hazards; Gas
Hazards; Fire Hazards; Cuts, etc. How to make emergency calls in case of
accidents. |
|
2. |
Water Safety |
|
Places of danger; Precautions for swimmers and non-swimmers; What to do if
you fall in, or in difficulties in water; Danger of ice - rescue of
someone falling in through ice; Self rescue if fallen through ice. Rescue
by non-swimmer of someone falling in water. |
|
3. |
Road Safety |
|
Walking; Crossing the Road; Travelling by Bus; Cycling; Handling animals
on the road; Road signs and signals by drivers; cyclists and policeman;
controlling traffic. Maintenance of cycles. |

| Grade 2 |
|
Awarded to Boys who have attended regularly a course of instruction and
show knowledge of: |

Home Safety |
|
Protection of the Home from Fire; Electricity in the Home;
Crime Prevention; Accident Prevention. |
|
2. |
Road Safety |
|
Road users on wheels; Motorway Driving; Level Crossings;
Road user services; i.e., Police, Breakdown Services, etc. - contact and
use. |

|
|
| Grade 3 |
|
Awarded to Boys who hold Grade 2 gained in a previous session, and have
attended regularly a course of instruction in and show a knowledge of: |

1. |
Home Safety |
|
Do-it-yourself with safety - use of tools; Use of bleaches; disinfectants
and caustic soda; Burst pipes; leaking taps; maintenance of tools. |
|
2. |
Fire Safety |
|
Theory of combustion; Fire Extinguishers; Rescue; Principal fire
regulations for offices, shops, halls, etc. |
|
3. |
Road
Safety |
|
Knowledge and understanding of the Highway Code. |
