Elementary Swimming Certificate
Awarded to Boys of 12 B.B. age or more who can swim 25 yards free style.

Elementary Swimming Certificate 1958

Intermediate Swimming Certificate
Awarded to Boys of 13 B.B. age or more who pass ANY ONE of the following tests:

	(a)	Swim 100 yards free style within 1min. 40 sees.
	(b)	Swim 100 yards butterfly-stroke within 2 mins.
	(c)	Swim 100 yards breast-stroke within 2 mins.
	(d)	Swim 100 yards back-stroke within 1min. 55 sees.

Intermediate Swimming Certificate 1958

Swimming Badge
Awarded to Boys of 14 B.B. age or more who hold the Intermediate Swimming Certificate gained in a previous Session, and who pass the following tests:

(1)	Swim ANY ONE of (a) to (d) -
	(a)	100 yards free style in I min. 30 sees.
	(b)	100 yards butterfly-stroke within I min. 50 sees.
	(c)	100 yards breast-stroke within I min. 50 sees.
	(d)	100 yards back-stroke within I min. 45 sees.
(2)	Dive satisfactorily from a height of at least 6 feet above the water.
(3)	Swim on the surface at least 6 yards, dive, and raise dumb-bell or other 1lb. weight; or, to swim 20 yards under water, commencing with a dive or plunge.
(4)	Swim 1 mile free style within 12 minutes.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The Swimming Badge, plus standard in two of the Groups of the Athlete's Badge qualifies a Boy in the Fitness Section at Bronze stage.

First Advanced Certificate.
Awarded to Boys of 15 B.B. age or more who hold the Swimming Badge gained in a previous Session, and who pass in ANY ONE of the following tests.

(a)	Swim 100 yards free style within 1min. 25 sees.
(b)	Swim 100 yards butterfly-stroke within 1min. 45 sees.
(c)	Swim 100 yards breast-stroke within 1min. 45 sees.
(d)	Swim 100 yards back-stroke within 1min. 40 sees.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The First Advanced Swimming Certificate, plus standard in two of the Groups of the Athlete's Certificate, qualifies a Boy in the Fitness Section at Silver stage.

Second Advanced Certificate.
Awarded to Boys of 16 B.B. age or more who hold the Swimming First Advanced Certificate gained in a previous Session, and who pass in ANY ONE of the following tests.

A Boy gaining this award will be entitled to wear a red cloth under the Badge.

(a)	Swim 100 yards free style within 1min. 20 sees.
(b)	Swim 100 yards butterfly-stroke within 1min. 40 sees.
(c)	Swim 100 yards breast-stroke within 1min. 40 sees.
(d)	Swim 100 yards back-stroke within 1min. 35 sees.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The Second Advanced Swimming Certificate, plus standard in two of the Groups of the Advanced Athlete's Certificate, qualifies a Boy in the Fitness Section at Gold stage.
