Awarded to Boys of 14 B.B. Age
or more who have attended regularly B.B. band practice with good conduct
for two sessions, who pass a test and who, in the opinion of their
Captain, have attained a satisfactory standard or proficiency on their
instrument. The minimum number of practices must be 25 per session. In the
case of bands not having 25 practices in one session, regular attendance
covering at least 50 practices in three Sessions may be taken as the
equivalent. It is quite permissible for a Boy to gain more than one of
these Badges, but to be eligible for a second badge he must qualify on the
second instrument for two further Sessions. Boys must also fulfil the
further conditions as stated for the respective instrument.
The Duke of Edinburgh's
Award. Membership of a Band for one Session qualifies a Boy in the
Pursuits Section at Bronze stage, and award of the Badge qualifies a Boy
at Silver stage. For the Gold Award a Boy must continue as a proficient
member of the band for a further Session.
